The Ceilidh

What is a ceilidh and why have one?

A ceilidh (or ceili) is a an informal social gathering originating in Scotland and Ireland, but now common throughout the world. The main ingredients for a ceilidh are music, folk dancing and story telling (and possibly a few drinks, although not essential).

They are fun, a brilliant way of socialising and great for breaking the ice for any occasion, especially weddings.

Enjoy the infectious rhythms of the music while you dance, or relax to some haunting melodies played by passionate musicians.

You don't need to have danced before! Guided by our experienced caller you cannot fail to have a good time whatever your age.

The dances come from the British Isles, Europe and the USA and many are popular such as: The Dashing White Sergeant, The Bridge of Athlone, The Cumberland Square Eight, The Siege of Ennis, Strip the Willow, The Gay Gordons, The Caerffili March and lots more.
